RRT-to-BSRC

A bachelor of science in respiratory care affords excellent opportunities for professional growth and development. Midwestern State University is offering our RRT-to-BSRC completion program by means of distance education.  Courses are taught on-line via Web CT.
 

The Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Respiratory Care consists of 125 semester hours plus two physical activity courses. Fifty-seven semester hours of non-respiratory academic foundation course work is required for the BSRC degree. These academic foundation courses may be taken at any appropriately accredited college or university and transferred to MSU.

BSRC SPECIFIC DEGREE REQUIREMENTS:

ü      57 semester hours non-respiratory

academic foundation courses

ü      68 semester hours in Respiratory Care-43

hours will be granted for the RRT credential upon
completion of hours of MSU Respiratory Care
course work

ü      2 physical activity courses

ü      30 of the 125 semester hours must be upper level

ü      32 of the 125 semester hours must be taken from MSU
to meet the residency
requirement

 

Currently we offer a minimum of three on-line respiratory courses per long semester.  Independent studies and advanced practice problems courses can be taken on-line during Fall, Spring, and/or Summer terms.  In addition, many of the academic foundation courses at MSU are offered on-line.

 

ACCREDITATION

The BSRC program is nationally accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).  MSU is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

^-One of the Political Science courses must include Texas government - POLS 1333 is available on-line

from MSU during the Summer I and Fall semesters each year.
 

*-Any course in literature, western civilization, humanities, philosophy, music history, art history,

theatre history or a two semester sequence of a foreign language.

 

+-Fine Arts includes music, art, or theater appreciation.

The academic foundations and physical activity courses can be taken at MSU or any regionally accredited college or university. If not taken at MSU, these courses will need to be transferred to MSU. These academic foundations and physical activity courses can be taken before, during or after completing the MSU respiratory courses.

ADMISSIONS


Registered Therapists who wish to begin taking the respiratory care courses should first apply for
MSU admission (MSU Application - Click here to apply)  followed by admission to the Respiratory Care Program (Respiratory Care Application - click here to view -PDF format).   You will need to send the Respiratory Care Program a notarized copy of your NBRC Registry Certificate.  Please have official transcripts sent to MSU from all colleges or universities you have attended.  Please include an official transcript documenting completion of a Registry-Level Respiratory Program. 

Students may enter the RRT-BSRC program in the Fall, Spring, or Summer semester (Summer includes both Summer I and II sessions - 8 weeks).
